Our business May 1st will be 62 years old, and I think about all the commitments that have been made over those 62 years. Ones that I even have no idea about, yet I know that they were acted upon or our doors wouldn't still be open. And how Barney Rogers Dirt Contractor, Inc. has a reputation for the best work, dependable, and simply, committed in the Oil & Gas patch of Southwest Kansas.
How does that come about? By being honest and truthful, doing what one says they will do. Following through, having good employee's, by being on time, doing what we are asked to do, what is expected of us, etc. And that in turn falls back to how as an employer, one treats their employee's.
I'm not so sure that this way of life isn't falling to the way side and it causes me concern for what our "world" is coming to. Sloppy living, no respect, no honesty, no integrity/character, that our morals have simply deteriorated. We expect better from others, yet are we slipping and falling into the trap of the "world"?
Do we not see it even in our church's? Someone signs up to help in the nursery, to help in Sunday school, with the youth, or perhaps even to bring a covered dish for the fellowship? Provide a meal for the sick?
This is still stemming from Bragging On God yesterday, but for the 10 lepers that were healed, only ONE came back to brag on the One who healed him. That means 1 out of 10 will have a heart of gratitude and act on it. Will you and I be the one out of ten? I certainly pray so and because we are, will that cause others to follow suit?
And why would we have that heart of gratitude? Because we are committed, dependable, do what we say we will do. That we respect others and invest in them. That we are humbled by what Christ has done for us. May this be a challenge to become more and more like Jesus Christ.
Ladies, may we, you and I, become Wives Of Noble Character; a TRUE PROVERBS 31 Woman.
That others would find that we are noble, that we have the respect of our husbands and that our husbands be respected. That we are found taking care of our homes & our families.
Matthew 23:23 The Message "You're hopeless, you religion scholars and Pharisees! Frauds! You keep meticulous account books, tithing on every nickel and dime you get, but on the meat of God's Law, things like fairness and compassion and commitment - the absolute basics! - you carelessly take it or leave it. Careful bookkeeping is commendable, but the basics are required."
May we be found walking in the absolute basics. That our walk and our talk, get this.....MATCHES!
2 Corinthians 8:10-12 "So here's what I think: The best thing you can do right now is to finish what you started last year and not let those good intentions grow stale. Your heart's been in the right place all along. You've got what it takes to finish it up, so go to it. Once the commitment is clear, you do what you can, not what you can't. The heart regulates the hands."
Let's get to it, follow through with those good intentions BECAUSE of our thankful hearts, wanting to make a difference, to be DIFFERENT. Let's you and I get committed! Sure it is hard at times, and honestly from time to time we may have to ask others for help to complete a commitment. But it will be rewarding, we will be pleased with ourselves for having followed through. "Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed." Proverbs 16:3, NIV.

Amen sister! I so badly want to be the wife & mom God has created me to be. I constantly have to watch myself to keep my walk & talk lined up together. When the mouth keeps running, but the feet are going in a different direction it makes life pretty tough!
I do want to make a difference for His Kingdom! Thank you Jesus!
Love ya,
Lelia
Congratulations on your business anniversary! My grandfather owned and operated Ford Ideal Laundry in Kansas City for almost 40 years before he sold it and retired. His stories the way he ran his business taught me so much about commitment. TO the customer, to the employee, and to the family! Unfortunately, the world today is lacking in that kind of integrity. I am thankful that God gave me such a great example in my Grandpa! Thank you for your insight here, you stated it well!
Have a great weekend~~Kelley
Kansas, wow that brings back memories of Lake Milton in Junction City, Kansas and the Army 1973. Crazy place.
Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving such an encouraging comment.
I just read your post and want to say with you, I choose to be the one out of ten! Thanks for that challenge today.
God also spoke to me through the 2 Corinthians 8 passage that you shared. I don't want to keep putting things off in my 'someday' file. God has placed a very specific call on my life right now and I've been neglecting actively pursuing this directive - NOW is the time. Thanks for the shove in the right direction - God's direction.
Blessings,
Joy
Hey Yolanda, I looked up that study and it was Herbert Locklear's All the devine Names and titles of God in the bible it was in 2004-2005 and it was Jehoveh Hoseenu "I'am the Lord your maker," and I make out of what has been kicked, bruised, dented, misused etc... ...WONDERS!
Ok but now you have me in this study so another one that I love is; Jehoveh Mekadishma It is the name of possesiveness, I am exclusively His and the reference is Exodus 19:3-6:(3) Then Moses went up to God, and the LORD called to him from the mountain and said, "This is what you are to say to the house of Jacob and what you are to tell the people of Israel:(4)You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carred you on eagles wings and brought you to myself. (5) Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possesion, you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.
Beth Moore is my favorite. I am not I can swing two conferences so close together!! I try to go to her events every year. I'll look into this. Thanks! Check out She Speaks too! It will be my first time at this event.
In His Graces~Pamela
