My soul "clings" to........

A word that keeps creeping into my thoughts, voiced words as well as words that I have "penned" is....CLING. When everything around you is in chaos what do you find yourself doing? Perhaps participating in the chaos? Running from the chaos? Are you CLINGING to something or someone? Are you able to put distance between yourself and the situation as much as possible?

There are times that we simply can't run!! An example or two that comes to my mind would be: death, cancer, divorce/separation. I'm sure you can come up with your own examples and if you are living life more than likely you don't even need an example as you already have one of your own. When you can't run, this question still is asked. What are you clinging to?

Psalm 31:6 NIV is a perfect example of what I want to not be found clinging to. "I hate those who cling to worthless idols; I trust in the LORD." Yet Psalm 63:7-9 NIV is where I want to be found, ALWAYS, but especially in the midst of chaos. "Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings. My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me. They who seek my life will be destroyed; they will go down to the depths of the earth."

Now bear with me but I wanted to take this a step farther. In the midst of our daily lives as we are walking each 24 hour period and life happens, what holds us together? IS anything holding you or I together in the midst of life? I'm not sure that if there ISN'T anything holding us together then how in the world can we cling to God instead of an idol?

I've also been pondering and using a second word here lately, and that word is GLUE. I looked it up in the Merriam-Webster dictionary and here is what I found:

1) any of various strong adhesive substances; 2) something that binds together

What or even better yet, WHO is a strong adhesive substance? WHO binds you and I together?

GOD! Jesus Christ! The Holy Spirit!

Oh yeah...I'm way excited on this one.

God
Living
Ultimately
Everywhere

I enjoy coming up with acrostic's, a great way to spur my thinking.

Lord, I pray that today, tomorrow and there after that we will be found not only clinging to You, but allowing You to be our "GLUE". Amen? AMEN!

Hello, my Super-GLUEd Siesta, Yolanda!
This was great! I love those "ah-ha" times with the Lord! He has been doing that with me on memory verses-- Colossians 3:23 "heartily" and my new memory verse(for the 15th) Psalm 34:7 "encamps"! I will be blogging about this!
Blessings from your fellow Super-GLUEd Siesta!
Miriam :)

What a perfect post for me to read today!! I have printed it out. I am going through my own struggles where I have no where to run to except to God.

In the psalm you quoted I love the part where if we cling to Him his right hand will uphold us!! I will put this one to memory as I need it in my arsenal to defeat the enemy!

Love,
Sonya

I love it! But your question gave me pause. I had to stop and look inside to see if I truly turn to Him in the midst of chaos. I do better than I used to , but the truth is, sometimes I don't. Sometimes I try to handle things on my own. Thanks for this acrostic to help me with this, Yolanda!

My heart sings because my soul clings! Love your thoughts here!

I also enjoy acrostics. I actually made one up for my car liscense plate so I could remember it.

AABT 298
"Abiding And Becoming Thine"
(The numbers represent the second chapter of Ephesians verse 8, "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.")

Sweet blessings,
Joy

Laura,

I don't always choose the best either! I'm getting much better than I used to be.

I love Jesus more today than I used to. I'm more aware that when I don't choose the narrow path, I hurt His heart. He doesn't love me any less, but I hurt His heart.

I don't enjoy hurting His heart, or any other heart...but simply, some times I do.

Love ya!!!
