I've been doing my daily bible reading this year from the New Living Translation and I want to brag on God. I am loving how He is showing me His word in a fresh new way. Granted, when I'm doing a bible study or studying on my own, I pick up either the ESV or NIV. Yet...I love seeing God's word from the NLT or even the Message.
This morning a few passages just jumped off the page and right into my heart. I can't contain myself, I want to do a little jig and shout from the mountain tops that GOD LOVES ME! GOD LOVES YOU!
"And my blessings are for Gentiles, too, when they commit themselves to the LORD. Do not let them think that I consider them second-class citizens." Isaiah 56:3a
Girlfriends and Guy friends His blessings are for us as well, not just the Jewish Nation. He knew that we would question and right here He blesses us with a promise IF we will fulfill His command. WHEN you and I commit ourselves to HIM. WHEN...we do, then we become Brothers and Sisters in Christ. You and I are NOT second-class citizens. Doesn't the world want us to be and cause us to think perhaps that we are?
"I will also bless the Gentiles who commit themselves to the LORD and serve him and love his name, who worship him and do not desecrate the Sabbath day of rest, and who have accepted his covenant." Isaiah 56:6
Father God, oh how I pray that we, today, would not desecrate the Sabbath and enjoy the blessings that come from accepting Your covenant. Lord, we come to You with our eyes wide open and our ears hearing. Lord, we love You so and praise Your Son's Name. Amen.
Lovingly as I'm stepping up to Higher Grounds,
Yolanda

I love the way it is said...with God, there is no such thing as a second class citizen.
How that lifts up my heart today, Yolanda. You were right to brag on God it is an encouragement to me.
Yesterday was the 6th month anniversary of my husband's passing away, and I've been teary eyed these past days, and weeks... so your post did lift me up. God loves me in a way nobody else can.
Bless you, dear Yolanda. Your posts always do lift up my spirits.
Praise him from the mountain top Yolanda. Because his word his greatly to be praised. I will keep this scripture close.
With God it's First Class all the way! Love this!
Blessings ~ Lisa
I, too am reading the NLT this year and also feel like I am seeing his word with fresh eyes...love, love it!!
Amen! Beautifully said, my friend. Love the encouragement that comes from this verse. It will be handy to keep close for the times the enemy whispers his discouraging words. I too have fallen in love with the NLT this year. It's helped me appreciate SO many verses anew.
Romans 2:11
"For God does not show favoritism."
That scripture is full of hope and encouragement. I love how different translations shed fresh light on things we thought we knew. I love the Jewish heritage and appreciate how much grace He has poured on me as a Gentile.
How often have I felt "second class"? Too many times to count. It's taken me the better part of 43 years to accept God's love for me. I've always known it in my head, but my heart has been slower to catch on.
I am so thankful for the work of the cross and for God's everlasting love that continues to reach long and wide and high and deep enough to find me.
peace~elaine
What a beautiful reminder!! And one that I really needed. I am feeling like such a nominal Christian this weekend. I am reading "Inside the Revolution" by Joel Rosenberg and in it he gives testimony after testimony of Muslims who have come to faith in Christ. Listen sister, these people who live in fear of their lives, yet love the Lord Jesus with all their hearts put me to SHAME.
I'm so glad that He loves me simply because I love Him and in spite of the pitifulness of my love for Him.
Leah
My eyes are open, Yo! Largely because of ladies like you who lay it out there and open my eyes to the truth!!
love you!
Yolanda... thanks so much for reminding us that we are precious in God's sight... No second class citizen here.
I love to pick up one of the more modern versions of God's Word to get a fresh new perspective... many times it makes me want to get up and shout too.
blessings,
Lynn
The words Elaine spoke almost sound like it is me.
Beautiful sharing Yolanda.
Hi,
The song on your blog sounds oh so much like one the high school chorus my little town in Kansas sings (with my kids in it). Wouldn't be the same town, would it? I read one of your posts on another blog wondering about this and meant to write to you sooner. If so, what a small world the "blogosphere" has turned out to be! You can visit at Family Fountain and might see some familar faces or pictures that I post of this area.

Hi Yolanda!
I'm so glad God is showing His Word to you in a fresh way. I love when I read a verse that I've known and heard for years and God shows me something brand new about it.
I'm thrilled we are not second class citizens!
Love to you today, my sister in Christ!
Valerie
I love this! Don't you just love an awesome Word from God that just fills you up to the brim?!!!
Love you sister/friend!
I love this...not only are we NOT second class citizens, we are heirs to the Kingdom...we are princes and princesses. Love you and your sharing.
"Lord, bless Yolanda and her husband as they now have the oportunities to do different things and to explore new adventures. Lord just prepare the paths they may walk across...allow someone to be touched by a kind word or work they may have to offer...allow them to cross paths with people who will only uplift them as they walk desiring to grow closer with you in each step. AMEN"
