I really don't even know where to begin this morning as I've witnessed first hand how much God loves me. I'm not being haughty, Friends, for He loves you just as much. He loves you and I with all that He has and is. When we align our will with His, He loves to bless us with the desires of our heart. I pray that we will find ourselves not being whiny like the Israelites as they went through the wilderness but that we will be like Daniel & David. Faithful in our hearts & actions as well as having praises flowing from our lips.
I'm not really sure when I started growing a love for photography but simply, I have. The picture that you see here I snapped on Thursday afternoon while on vacation out in Colorado. I have titled it "Fragrance and Beauty of God". God keeps pressing in to me how important it is to be emitting His fragrance, a sweet aroma. **2 Corinthians 2:14** That when we do, those that receive will recognize a beauty that can only come from Him. If I allow Him to clean the inside of my cup then the outside of my cup will be radiant as well.
In the past 7 days I have seen several of my own prayer requests answered. From finding favor for a parking spot to a Forever Friend. From the pages of my journal on July 8th: "I am so excited for today. I want this relationship to be all about You. I do believe You orchestrated this very day. I pray that this friendship will last a lifetime."
We all have had relationships that come and go. Perhaps because of where we are at in our lives and true distance has happened due to a move. Or that we recognize integrity is not important to the other person. Perhaps much jeopardizing or even manipulation has taken hold of the relationship, or perhaps it simply has grown cold. All of this takes work and if both aren't willing to invest then we have another perfect example of why the relationship won't last. I'm hungry for a lasting relationship. One that endures the test of time!
I believe that this week God has brought that type of a friend into my life. Actually He crossed our paths many months ago and over time we have learned much about what is important to the other. We have invested in one another. I pray that if you haven't found a friend that is like that, ask God to bring a lasting friend into your own life. I would also encourage you to pray as well that YOU would have the tenacity to be a lasting friend to another as well. This past Wednesday my husband and I were extremely blessed to meet Beth, Jimbo and one of their daughters, Melissa. They were traveling from the northwestern part of Colorado (after visiting their youngest daughter and family) back home to Louisiana. Several weeks ago we both mentioned that we would be in Colorado during July and found out that their travel would take them with-in 15 to 20 miles of where we were staying. Is God awesome, or what?

Did you know that we have a Forever Friend? One that truly does last the test of time? His name is Jesus. John 15:14-16 NIV "You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit—fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name."
I want to share one more thing with you about Beth. In January we both began the Scripture Memorization that was being encouraged on the LPM Blog. Then in March Beth Moore announced that she would be having a get together in January for those that have participated. Right away I knew I wanted to go as God has used Beth Moore mightily in my life, always pointing me to Jesus Christ for my healing. With-in just a few days of that invitation Beth Herring and I made a commitment to one another to room and be a team to recite our scriptures at this gathering. SO GOD! Investing, being real, encouraging, emitting the fragrance of Christ.
Lord, thank You for blessing me with a Forever Friend. One that loves You, is faithful in prayer, and truly invests. Thank You Lord for the gift of LIFE that You have given to Beth and myself. For the Living Water that You have poured into her and she so lovingly pours back out. Thank You Lord for splashing us with Your Love. Amen.

God has blessed me with a forever friend in my BFF, Cindy. Our friendship withstood 17 days together in the Holy Land and Egypt. We decided that if we can travel and live together in that close of proximity, we would be friends for a long time.
In 1990 I discovered personally that Jesus would be the only friend that would never leave me when I was living alone in San Francisco. Such a wonderful revelation.
Great post, friend.

Yolanda, You just continue to bless me my friend. I have just been walking on cloud 9 since our meeting. I feel such a deep kinship with you and your sweet Bill!
I am working on your cards. (Your verses are much longer than mine!)
Love you so much my friend,
Beth - Your Forever Friend
Yolanda,
What a beautiful and moving post about what the true meaning of friendship is truly all about. It isn't just so much what you get from others, but like you mentioned, you have to be willing to be that friend and give back as well.
Love and Hugs ~ Kat
Amen. GOD is awesome..HE gives us just what we need...just when we need it.
BLessings and prayers, andrea
Well, isn't that something! Another blog meet. God is moving in some mighty ways via this avenue. I pray you all have a blast together in January.
And that photograph? Beautiful!

Yolanda:
Another tear jerker post!! I just want to squeeze you both thru this screen!!! LOL!!
First, I do beleive that God gave you that new love of photography because of the depth of His creation. He allows us to take just a snapshot of it and then bring Him praise for the detail of life HE has created all around us.
JESUS will always be my Forever Friend. He proved that once again when I became a widow.
I - like you - have had many close friendships which have come and gone. But my desire - like you - is to make all my new relationships all about GOD! That's why HE answered your prayer with Beth!
Of course you KNOW how much I love the scripture you chose. That verse in the NIV is theme of my own Bible study ministry! And... reading a little further down that passage - that fragrance will either bring life or death. Some will embrace it and others will not. Our job is simply to emit the fragrance of Christ if we are truly to be ministers of the New Covenant!
I am so thankful for all the new friendships that God has blessed me with - the ones that permeate Christ! You both do that!
Love you both, Stephanie

I'm visiting from Beth's blog ... I figured that if she loves you then I must read your blog!! I am so thrilled to "meet" another sister who loves Jesus! Praise God for your meeting with Beth -- how fun!! :)
That is so awesome! I am grieving the loss of a friendship, but it was one that you described exactly. As I have come to know Christ and have began to follow Him, my eyes have been opened to the differences she and I have and while I miss her I know it is in my best interest not to try to make a relationship work that is and hasn't been healthy for me. I can only pray that she meets Christ either by my example or with a new friend or acquaintence. In the mean time I am fighting the enemy who is "trying" to persuade me that it would be okay to have just a fun night with her like old times and party. No go. I must be faithful and obey the spirit. I can only have one true forever friend in Him in my life right now. May God bless me with future friends during my new walk with Him.
Have a blessed day!
A forever friend is such a blessing--a reflection of Jesus' love for us.
I love your flower, Yo! Amazing talent!
Yolanda,
So wonderful that you are able to go in January, and that you have a wonderful "forever friend" to go with, and share that special time.
I have 2 friends that I would love to go with, however, one hasn't been doing the scripture memory (didn't know about it in time) and the other, though she was already doing memory, knew that it was too much of a commitment, especially since she doesn't know where she and her husband will be in January... physically or financially!
So, as I don't know where we will be financially, I can't commit to going either. I would sure love to, but the travel and hotel would be too much, especially with me going to She Speaks this year.
You will have to celebrate with both Beths for me. :)
I am holding onto my two friends... we are all at different ages and stages, but I am so blessed by both of them. One is my age, single, the other is an empty nester... and they are "sisters of the heart" to me.
As I never had a sister growing up, even a sister of the heart, this has been a double blessing.
Thank you for sharing about lasting relationships.
God bless,
Heather
This was such a delightful post to read, Yolanda. I went over to Beth's place to read her version of your story... I also left a comment there.
Your friendship is a foretaste of heaven.
You are right, our earthly friendships point to the One Eternal Forever Friend, the One who sticks closer than a brother.
Thank you for sharing.
Awesome, thank you for sharing how God worked through this relationship!
Is this awesome or what! Yolanda, I love your photography. I'm in the process of trying to learn more about this myself. (My camera came with a phonebook size instruction manual and TWO videos ~ so hopefully sometime soon I'll learn both, haha). And, this sweet friendship between you two amazing ladies is such a God~Gift. How awesome!!!! Hugs to you Friend, Kim
How great is that with your forever friend! I love Beth's web and who God has made her to be. So, it doesn't surprise me how God has brought you two together as friends- you both truly love and follow the Lord and only what to do His will! I also love the picture you took and how you speak of God's love. Love, Laurie
This was a great post!! I love how God blesses us in such wonderful ways!! And to have BFF's!! Another one of His sweet blessings!! So glad y'all had a great vacation and were able to get together.
I'm with you on the photography!! I got my new camera last week--just in time for the end of swim team. I'm struggling with the software at the moment. But, God has given me some of His great shots!!
Love you!
Susan
